Iris ‘Before the Storm’ (tall bearded iris) Is claimed to be one of the darkest flower colours produced by the irises. The parents of this cultivar were Iris ‘Superstition’ and Iris ‘Raven’s Roost’ creating this almost black bloom with a slight fragrance. It is a clumping-forming, herbaceous perennial with grey-green strap-like leaves. This specimen was part of a collection at Myddelton House, Enfield, near London.
